TOKAREK:Our Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma, Ethel Tokarek, passed away peacefully at Fairview Home Brandon, on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at the age of 94 years nine months. Ethel was born October 7, 1919 in Eden, Manitoba and took her schooling there. She met and married Louie Tokarek there later moving to Kelwood. They raised four daughters, Shirley (Alan) Potter, Kelwood, MB, Avis (Brian) Moran, Wardner, B.C., Peggy Jackson Calgary, AB, and Evelyn (Ed) Lupier, Brandon, MB. She leaves nine grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren who cherish their memories of time with her. Ethel also babysat many other children who were precious to her as well. She kept track of milestones in all their lives. Ethel's community was important to her and she belonged to many organizations and committees. She was an avid gardener whose flower gardens were beautiful. Spring time meant a new garden for the plants she would buy. She enjoyed gardening, reading, quilting, hooking rugs, traveling, playing Bingo, cards, and Scrabble and was game to try new things. Neighbourly visits with Joe H. were also a pleasant pastime. Declining health took her to Brandon to live. In 2009 she took up residence in Fairview Home. Ethel was feisty and independent, but she enjoyed her visits with her caregivers. She loved to go on "outings" with Gwen and play Scrabble with Terry. Ethel was predeceased by her husband, Louie in 1981, as well as her parents William and Mary, siblings Eva and Howard, sons-in-law, Barry Jackson and John Hiebert. She leaves family, friends, relatives and caregivers who are saddened at her passing but appreciate that hers was a life well lived. Thanks to all who had a part in her life.
