STEWART: Ruth Marie Stewart, of Brandon, passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Saturday, July 12, 2014. Ruth was born in Brandon on October 17, 1938. She loved adventure and as a very young woman she joined the Navy to see the world. She lived in Nova Scotia and Ontario for a number of years. In her mid twenties, she returned to Gainsborough and later to Brandon to resume her life with family and friends. Ruth raised her two children in Brandon and was always very close to her own mother throughout much of her life. She loved family get togethers, lively card games and camping with her kids in her early years and taking long trips to see new and exciting places. She was never afraid to strike off into the unknown or drive to new places to see the sites, meet family or take on new experiences. Ruth is survived by her daughter Traci (Scott) Dunn of Winnipeg; son Jerry (Shannon) Stewart of Brandon; three granddaughters, Kristyn Dunn, Kaylin Wiebe and Randi Stewart; four great grandchildren; two siblings Gordon Jamieson of Swift Current and Fran Wilson of Brandon. She was predeceased by parents, Dorothy May Higgins and Gus Jamieson and brother, Jerry Jamieson. A Celebration of Ruth's Life was held at the Lawson Lodge Main level, 261-8th Street on Wednesday, July 16, 2014.
