FERGUSON: Rita, widow of the late Doug Ferguson, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at the Maples Personal Care Home, Winnipeg. She was born Marguerite Myrtle Moss on October 1, 1923. Rita came to Canada from England as a young war bride in 1946, settling at 447 - 4th St. where first Jim was born, then Anne eighteen months later, and Jeannie another eighteen months later. Besides raising three children, Rita was also busy settling her family in new locations, moving to Edmonton in 1955, back to Brandon until 1960, then off to Flesherton and Oakville, Ontario. In 1962 the family moved to Garden Grove CA before returning to Brandon. Back in Brandon, she worked at Prairie Oasis until her retirement. She couldn't sit still, so she went to work part time at the YWCA. Rita resided for a number of years at Sokol Manor where she enjoyed the residents and activities there. Rita, or Gran as she was known, was a remarkably devoted mother and grandmother, always putting her family first with never a second thought. She moved to Winnipeg in 2011 to assist her daughter Jean who had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and passed away in 2013. Unfortunately, Rita developed dementia shortly after her move and both she and Jeannie would require care afforded at the Maples Personal Care Home. Rita will always be remembered for her love for her family, her positive outlook, and her favourite phrase "don't worry, be happy". She was predeceased by her parents John and Mary, infant son Ricky, daughter Jean, brothers Frank, Alfie, Arthur and Lenny, sisters May and Violet, father-in-law Robert Ferguson, brothers-in-law Bill (May), Bob (Isobel), Hugh (Evelyn) and most recently her special friend / brother-in-law Gord Ferguson.
