SNURE: With family by her side, Evelyn Doris Snure passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Monday, August 25, 2014. Evelyn was born on November 23, 1946 at Belcourt, North Dakota. She attended Elementary School at Dunseith Indian School and High School at St. Joseph's Academy in Crookston, Minnesota. Evelyn was a nursing aide at San Haven hospital in Dunseith, then as a health aide with the Community Action Program at Turtle Mountain Reserve doing home visits to the sick and elderly. She started a rabid vaccination program for animals on the reserve. Evelyn's main job was a homemaker with the occasional part time work to supplement the family income. Many hours were spent volunteering as a dedicated board member, past treasurer, and rentals person, organizing preteen dances and winter carnivals for the East End Community Centre. At King George School, Evelyn was a parent council representative and enjoyed serving breakfast and chaperoning students who remained at the school over the lunch hour. Playing slow pitch softball in her early years and coaching, managing girls softball teams and fishing at the Assiniboine River were also favorite past times. Evelyn was an avid reader of Danielle Steel books especially those novels that were tied to historic events. She refinished many pieces of wood furniture. But most of all Evelyn's children and grandchildren were the centre of her life. She loved making special meals for her family, especially breads as well as sweet baked treats. She looked forward to the annual camping at Curran Park where the kids and grandkids could enjoy the entire summer. Evelyn will be deeply missed by her husband Ted; children Sandy (Carl) Bercier, Lisa (Robin) Flett, Michael (Peggy) Azure, Dawn (David) Gabriel, Theo Snure, Monique (Adam) Snow, and Jessica Snure as well as all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Virginia Allery, LaVerne (Edmund) Parker and brothers Johnny Allery and Leslie (Arlene) Allery. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents John and Rose Allery and sister Ramona (Suzie) Azure. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, 327 - 4th Street, on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Patrick Neufeld as Celebrant.
