KOTYK: Lionel passed into the presence of the Lord at Rideau Park Personal Care Home, Brandon, Manitoba on September 25th, 2014. Lionel was born on November 18, 1935 to Mary and John Kotyk and raised in the Oakburn area. He was employed at INCO, Thompson, Manitoba until his retirement. During his holidays he traveled extensively throughout western Canada and the United States. He enjoyed reading the history of the places he visited and often would talk to family and friends of his adventures. On retirement he moved to Brandon, Manitoba and for the next 14 years he grain farmed with his brother Carl. His retirement days were also filled with hunting, fishing and camping. He was a kind and gentle man who enjoyed meeting up for coffee with friends and family. He will be sadly missed by his extended family for his supportive and caring ways. Lionel is survived by his brothers Lloyd (Kay), Ed (Joyce), and Alex (Emily), and his numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at Rae’s Funeral Chapel, Shoal Lake, Manitoba on Wednesday, October 1st, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at St. John Cantius (Oakburn Farms) Roman Catholic Cemetery. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of one’s choice. Rae’s Funeral Service of Shoal Lake and Erickson are in care of the arrangements.
