SMITH:Glen passed away peacefully at Virden Hospital August 27, at the age of 86. He will lovingly be remembered by his wife of 65 years, Joy (Wedow) his high school sweetheart and by his children, daughter Shelly and son, Gary, son- in-law Dan, daughter-in-law Sandy, granddaughter Amy, great-grandson Jason, brother Peter and wife Marie of Barrie, Ontario, cousins, nieces and nephews. Glen was predeceased by Brother Robert (Rob) and Sister Kathleen (Kay). Glen was born February 17, 1926 in Virden Hospital to parents Johny and Verna Smith of Woodnorth. In his late teens he moved to Brandon to work at J. A. Keddys as a machinist. Then he worked at Manitoba Telephone garage. He retired and opened his own business Smith Steering Service in Virden. Glen owned his business from June 1, 1964 to August 1, 1992 when he sold the business. He was a life member of the Elks. He was an active member of the Elks and all they did for the community. He called the Elks bingo at the Sherwood for 40 years. Glen loved old time dancing, and even a little jive until the legs gave up moving so fast. He loved the old songs. He liked to golf and curl when he could, he also enjoyed all sports on TV. He was a respected business man and a person who would help anyone who needed help. He was a man who liked to wake up to another day with family, friends and other people. He was a loving husband and father. Funeral services will be a private family service. Family and friends are asked to join in a celebration of his life on Saturday, October 25 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Virden Legion Hall.
