WINTER: Grace Winter of Brandon, passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Heath Centre on Tuesday, October 21, 2014. Grace was born in Yorkton, SK, the second youngest of five children. She grew up and attended school in Yorkton, where she began her career in retail sales, and met the love of her life, Bob Winter. They married in June of 1948. They had three daughters Barbara, Susan and Lou. Bob’s career took the family to Brandon, Morden, Souris, and then moved back to Brandon in 1971. Grace was very hard working and many businesses had the advantage of her sales skill and wit. She managed Reesor’s Jewellery in the Shopper’s Mall for several years and made many friends and acquaintances. She retired from retail sales, being a very caring “people person” she began volunteering at the Brandon Hospital. Grace was a skilled knitter and she enjoyed baking and was truly a “career shopper.” She and Bob spent many enjoyable summers with family and friends at their cabin at Clear Lake, it held a very special place in her heart. Grace was predeceased by her husband Bob in 1998, her daughter Barbara in 2007 and her lifelong friend, Iris Dangerfield in 2014. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Susan (Jim) Lechner of Saskatoon, Lou (Neil) Thorndycraft of Winnipeg and her many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her family and many friends. As per mom’s wishes, cremation will take place and a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Grace may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation, The Manitoba Chapter, 350 St. Mary Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 3J2 or to a charity of choice.
