JOYNT: Agnes "Evelyn" Joynt (nee Bradley), age 99 years, beloved wife of the late Richie Joynt, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love with family by her side on November 15, 2014 at Hillcrest Personal Care Home. Evelyn was born in Brandon on March 17, 1915, daughter of William Walter and Hannah Mabel (nee Routledge) Bradley. She resided at "Mule Town", the family farm in the RM of Daly, which was where dozens of Mules were cared for that were used for their family business to build railways. From there, her family moved to "The Ranch", a homestead where they resided briefly near Provincial Road 250 in the RM of Daly. Finally, in 1929, Evelyn and her family moved to LL NW33-10-22 in the RM of Daly, which would be her home until 2010. After a fall which broke her hip at age 95, Evelyn moved to the Hillcrest Personal Care Home, where she resided until her passing. Evelyn received her education while attending Mayne School and Spring Valley School, both located in the RM of Daly. On November 19, 1949, Evelyn married her love, Richie Joynt at First Presbyterian Church in Brandon. They were blessed with a son, Gerry. During the years at the farm, Evelyn cared for her mother until her passing in 1974. Two of Evelyn's brothers, Elgin and Jack, also resided on the farm and worked together to farm the land and grow their cattle herd. She was a member of the Concorde Order of the Easter Star from Alexander, United Church Women's group from Griswold and the Griswold Curling Club. Evelyn's greatest accomplishments in life was raising her son, then spending much time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved spending all her time with her family. You would never go to Evelyn's house without being treated to some goodies or a fabulous home-cooked meal. Evelyn loved to bake and cook. No one, family or friends, would ever leave her house without a full stomach and a smile on their face after a wonderful visit. She spent many years running with Gerry to his hockey games as he was growing up. Later, as her granddaughters got old enough, Evelyn ran thousands of miles in her old brown Ford pick-up truck to get them to Ringette games. Evelyn was always at their games, eventually being called Grandma by everyone on the Ringette teams. She also got to attend her great-grandchildren's hockey games, not as often as she probably wanted to, but still enjoyed cheering them on in the game she loved. Over the years, daughter-in-law, Shirley, spent time every day visiting and helping Evelyn, which enabled her to live in her own home until she was 95 years of age. It was the care of Shirley which kept a smile on Evelyn's face as she grew older and lived alone. These visits meant the world to Evelyn and to her entire family. Evelyn also had a green thumb and enjoyed many seasons of gardening, growing a variety of fruits, vegetables and flowers. She always took pride in picking the beautiful gladiolas she would grow, displaying them proudly in her home or giving them to friends who came to visit. Another enjoyment that Evelyn had later in her life was bingo. Evelyn traveled to bingo when she could, and later as it was harder for her to get out, she played TV bingo. Evelyn is survived by her son Gerry (Shirley), grandchildren Shawna (Tom) Jordan, Suzanne (Kary) Kirkup, Angela Joynt, Mindy (Scott) Jamieson, Richie (Teri) Joynt and Tracy Joynt, great-grandchildren Lincoln Jordan, Karissa Kirkup, Tyler Kirkup, Hudson Jamieson and another great-grandchild that was ready to bless her in the next couple of weeks. Evelyn is also survived by her brother- in-law, Norrie (Georgina) Joynt, niece Norma Bradley, nephew Butch (Jan) Bradley, along with many other nieces and nephews. Evelyn also has a life-long friend, Josie Kiyewakan, who spent many hours together over the years and whom Evelyn loved like a sister. Evelyn was predeceased by her late husband, Richie Joynt, brother's Elgin Bradley, Cliff (Alice) Bradley, Jack Bradley, great-granddaughter Jessica Jamieson, niece Glenda Bradley and nephew Billie Bradley. A private family graveside service to celebrate Evelyn's life was held on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at the Griswold Cemetery. Rev. Craig Miller officiated. Pallbearers were Angela Joynt, Mindy Jamieson, Richie Joynt, Tracy Joynt, Karissa Kirkup and Tyler Kirkup. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Evelyn's name to the Family Advisory Council - Hillcrest Personal Care Home, 930-26th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7B 2B8.
