CRIDDLE: Carold Louise Criddle (Hoadley). It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend Carold Criddle at the age of 75 at the Brandon Regional Health Center in Brandon, Manitoba on November 8, 2014. Carold is survived by her sons; William (Ida) Criddle, Donald (Tami) Criddle and daughters Luanne (Carl) Gibb, Patty (Roman) Rehor, son in law Tom Lazor and several grandchildren, great -grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Carold leaves to mourn her sister, Doreen Thompson, and brothers; Tom Moffatt, and Paul Hoadley. Carold was predeceased by her husband David Criddle, daughter Beatrice Lazor and brother John Hoadley. Carold was born in Morris, Manitoba on June 28, 1939. Carold lived in various foster homes in southern Manitoba. The last foster home was at the home of Oscar and Irene Brown in Stockton, Manitoba. It is there that Carold made several lifelong friends and fell in love with David Criddle. On September 8, 1956 David and Carold were married and resided on the family farm north of Wawanesa, Manitoba. David and Carold raised 5 children on that farm. Later David and Carold moved to the “quarter” which was a beautiful property on the bank of the Assiniboine River not far from the family farm. Carold eventually moved to Brandon, Manitoba where she lived at the Odd Fellows Corner. Carold made several new friends there and enjoyed living there until her death. Carold worked at Roger’s Diner and Kurt’s Schnitzel House in Wawanesa. Carold later took her nurses aid training and later worked at the Personal Care Home in Wawanesa. Carold was resilient and met several challenges throughout her life. In 1994, Carold underwent a liver transplant. It was her determination and will to live that she exceeded her doctors’ expectations. The liver transplant was a success and she remained grateful to the organ donor throughout her life. Carold spent her last days at the palliative care unit at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Her spirit remained strong however her body was tired. During her stay she was able to say goodbye to her family and lifelong friends. We are blessed to have been part of this amazing lady's life, and have learned from her how to live with the simple pleasures found in each day. A graveside funeral service was held at Criddle Family Cemetery at Aweme, Manitoba on Wednesday, November 12, 2014. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you for all of the beautiful cards, flowers, hugs, food and phone calls received during this time. A special thank you to the staff at the palliative care unit and Jamieson’s Funeral Home.
