WILSON: Dahl Ernest Wilson, April 28, 1930 November 24, 2014. With deep sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Dahl Ernest Wilson, aged 84. Dahl was born in Morden, Manitoba, growing up in a farming family in the Thornhill area. Lured by adventure, Dahl, his father and brother and families, moved the family farming operation everything from the house to the chickens - over 100 miles to Wawanesa in 1959. He led the farm operation until 1995 when a neck injury convinced him it was time to retire. Dahl and Betty retired to Brandon where he stayed busy selflessly volunteering for Seniors for Seniors and following his passion for woodworking by being a founding member of the Wheat City Carving Club. Over the years, Dahl honed his skill in wood carving and won many awards for his talents. He also loved staying active, taking long walks with Betty, as well as sports including bowling, lawn-bowling, fishing, and curling. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, Dahl is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Betty, son Ronald (Jeanette), daughter Lori McLean (Tom), daughter Shirley Germain (Dwayne), son Ken (Jennifer), grandchildren Aster Wilson, Donnevan Germain (Melissa), Ryan Germain, Rick McLean (Kim), Eli and Declan Wilson and great grandchild Ayden McLean. Dahl is also survived by his older brother Ross (Margaret) and family. Dahls parents, Charles (Bert) Wilson and Mary (Bessie) Wilson predeceased him. A celebration of Dahls life will be held at Brockie Donovan Funeral Chapel, 332-8th Street, Brandon, Friday, November 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Harvey Hurren officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Canada, 204-825 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1M5. Messages of condolence may be placed at www.brockiedonovan.com.
