FEDORUK: Alexander Nicholas Fedoruk died peacefully, November 22 nd, 2014, at his home in Victoria, B.C. in his eighty fourth year. Alex was born in Brandon, Manitoba. He graduated from Brandon College, the University of Manitoba and the University of Glasgow, Scotland where he earned his Ph.D in the Faculty of Science. His professional work, undertaken on behalf of private and government organizations, included investigation of natural systems in Canada, South America and Southeast Asia. Alex was truly devoted to understanding the environment, especially Riding Mountain National Park. He authored several books that focused on various aspects of the park. After completing his work in Thailand, Alexs life journey took him to Victoria, B.C. where he was warmly welcomed into the Cadboro Bay Community. Despite health concerns, he continued to write with unflagging interest and persevered valiantly in his exploration of nature. The time he spent at Clear Lake was a highlight of his year. Alex was apt with words and had a keen interest in history and language. Friends and family will remember him for his story telling and poetry recitations. He will be deeply missed by his wife Joan, sister Dolores Wilton, sisters-in-law Mary Jane McLachlan, Gayle McLachlan (Glenn Bradley), nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Doreen (Bunny) Sym. He endeared himself to us all with his generous spirit. Alex appreciated the special medical attention he received from Dr. Alec Pan, Winnipeg, Dr. Benning, Brandon and Dr. Erfanafar, Victoria. No service by request.
