ANDRONICK: Harry F. February 14, 1935 - November 30, 2014. It is with profound sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Harry, our Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, Husband, and Friend to all he met! Harry was the youngest of six children, he was raised and lived most of his life in Brandon, until moving recently to Elgin, MB, where he again made many close and dear friends. Harry began his working career at 17 years of age with the CPR and retired from there in 1982 as a brakeman. In his off hours Harry who was a Jack of all Trades used his many skills and hobbies to stay busy. Whatever he set his mind to do he accomplished. He was well known as someone to call if you lost your keys or needed a safe opened. There were few locks that kept Harry out. From metal detecting to rabbit, gopher or deer hunting, repairing tv's, radios, gun smithing, lock smithing, playing guitar, or listening to Jimmy Rodgers tunes, Harry tried it all! Harry met and married Kathy at age 30 in 1965, and made her children his own! We are left with many memories of camping trips to the Duck Mountains, Moon Lake, Lake Audy, and trips to Windsor and Tennessee to visit extended family. Harry was a gatherer, he could not pass a garage sale or the opportunity to trade something for something else that someone could use. Harry was also a lover of animals and people. He was the most giving of men, if he knew there was someone or something in need he could not rest until he had done what he could to help in some small way. Harry took great pleasure in doing for others and it was never a surprise to find a "friend" at the supper table or find he had offered a place to stay to someone in need. He gathered young people around him and mentored many a young chap in his early years, taking friends and family along on whatever excursions he was into for the day! His nephews loved to spend their summers with uncle Harry as he was always up for adventure. Sadly Harry was diagnosed in midlife with paranoid schizophrenia and after many debilitating years, with the continued acceptance, love and support of his family, he recovered well enough to live a productive life, always trying to be helpful to someone in need. Harry made friends wherever he went and it was rare to hear him speak negatively about anyone. Harry was predeceased by his parents Mary and William, brothers Steve and Henry, sisters Margaret and Anne. He leaves to mourn his beloved best friend and wife Kathy, son Chris (Lesley), granddaughters Krista (Bobby, Hunter) Amy (Mark, Ivy), daughter Tammy (Ron). Brother Mike, sister-in-Law Norma, many nieces, nephews, extended family and special nephew John of Windsor also survive. He will be truly missed by his special friends Bob, Peter, Frank, Ray, Linda and Grey and his faithful companions, Sheba and Tiger and we can't forget "Nellie", for if ever asked where he was going, it was "Nellie's" - we assume he is visiting with her today! It was Harry's explicit wishes, that there be no service held. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at a later date. Please join the family for a time of fellowship and shared memories at the North End Community Centre, 1313 Stickney Avenue on Sunday, December 7, 2014 between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Harry's memory made to your local humane society would be appreciated.Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com. Until we meet again, just beyond the sunset!
