McGRATH: Dale passed away suddenly in Virden, Manitoba on Wednesday November 26, 2014. Dale was born July 14, 1942 at Watrous, Saskatchewan. He was the only son of Wilfred and Ruby McGrath. The family lived on the farm near Watrous until they moved into town when Dale was about 7 years old. Dale attended school in Watrous. During this time, he enjoyed hunting, playing baseball and curling. After completing school, Dale moved to Saskatoon where he worked flagging for the highways department and then in a tire shop. He then began working for Guardian Finance. During this time he worked in Winnipeg and Brandon. Dale and Peggy met in Brandon. They were married on July 6, 1974 in Virden, Manitoba. They lived on the farm near Elkhorn. Their son Bradley was born in 1980. Along with farming, Dale drove fuel truck for Gulf Oil and then for Esso, delivering fuel to the farms in the area. In 1979, Dale began work for Manco Dairies, driving truck, picking up cream at the farms. Dale made many friends on his routes. After Manco stopped picking up cream, Dale took a job as the attendant at the Elkhorn/Wallace Landfill. He always enjoyed the many visits with people when they stopped at the office. Dale was a member of the Elkhorn Elks Lodge #381 and the Elkhorn Curling club. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends and a good game of cards. Dale was predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Ruby McGrath, uncle Ross Campbell, and aunt and uncle Vincent and Thelma McGrath, and Father-in-law Jim Leonard. He is survived by wife Peggy, son Bradley and his wife Cindy and their sons Trinity and Dylan. Also surviving is sister Donna and Les Fenner, their daughters Andrea and Allison and their families, aunt Doris Campbell, mother-in-law Margaret Leonard, Peggy’s sisters Betty and Laura, brother Harry and their families. The funeral service was held Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Virden with Father Eric Zadji officiating. The eulogy was given by Cindy McGrath and soloist was Gerry Lund. Interment followed at Elkhorn Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ed Paull Jr., Norbert Lamy, Bill Bickerton, Allan Tuttill, Edwin Gamble and Bill Thomson. Honorary pallbearers were all those in attendance.
