LEE: Eleanor (Toots) was born in the living quarters of her Grandpa Baldwins store at Fertile Sask., December 13, 1935, only child of Ken and Florence Fisher (nee Baldwin). Christened Eleanor Jeanette, she was dubbed Tootsie by her uncles and the nickname stuck! At age 5 the family moved to Storthoaks, which she considered home. Toots attended school in Storthoaks, Fertile and graduated Grade 12 at Gainsborough School in 1954. The local movie theatre and Danceland drew crowds from the surrounding area and Toots called this scene the ultimate in entertainment. Following graduation Toots worked in the bank in Pierson, MB, she married William Lee from Pierson, in January, 1955. Toots & Bill farmed 3 kms north of Pierson. Toots was an avid hockey fan, loved to cook, she could sew and was very creative. She was part of the organizing group to establish the Pierson Figure Skating Club and held all offices in the club over ten plus years. She worked hard growing large gardens each year all while raising 3 children and battling MS, (diagnosed in 1962). Toots had a dry sense of humor that was enjoyed by all that knew her and she faced many health challenges without complaint and with a strength of spirit that can only be known by those that deal with the debilitating effects of a chronic disease. Toots enjoyed her extended family and appreciated staying caught up on the lives of her cousins, aunts/uncles and Lee nieces and nephews. Toots & Bill moved to the town of Pierson in 2003 and in 2005 she took up residence in the Gainsborough Personal Care Facility. Here she maintained relatively good health thanks to the care and concern of her caregivers. She continued to enjoy her 10 Grandchildren and stories of their success, as well as her 6 Great Grandchildren. Toots is survived by:Her 3 children and their families: Rick (Gloria) Jana (Les) Kaeden, Haleigh, Damian; Lyndsey (Gary); Meagan (Brent) Liam, Kyla (Micheal) Adelaide, Aavril Bob (Jill) Katie (Derrick), Amy Candie (Greg) Leea (Adam), Thomas (Kalina), Elly, Julie. Sisters-in-law Winnie Drier, Vivian Lee, Betty Kereliuk. Numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. Funeral services were held December 12th in Pierson United Church. Thank you to Redpath Funeral Services, Rev. Heather Sandilands, the amazing staff of Gainsborough Health Care Facility (over the past 9 years), all family and friends for their many acts of support and condolences. Donations in memory of Toots can be made to the MS Society or a local charity of your choice.
