PILLOUD: Florence Lavina Pilloud, late of Wawanesa, passed away at Wawanesa Personal Care Home on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at the age of 79 years. Florence was born on May 27, 1935 to Arthur and Minnie Spencer in Rathwell, Manitoba. She grew up on the family farm and received her education at Ecole Joan DArc. After her career as a full time mother, Florence went on to work as a housekeeper, ran the Wawanesa Mutual boarding house until its closure and then as a cook at a variety of restaurants in the area. Florence married Maurice Pilloud on October 9, 1952. Florence and Maurice had 3 children Gary, Robert and Brian. Florence and Maurice made their home in many communities over the years Treherne, LaRiviere and since 1967, in Wawanesa. Florence was active as a full time mom, attending every possible sporting event that her boys participated. She was an avid gardener. She was renowned in our family for grandmas pickles. Prior to her illness, she spent her retirement volunteering at the Personal Care Home and having coffee with her local friends. Florence is survived by her husband of 62 years Maurice of Wawanesa; sons Gary (Elaine) Pilloud of Brandon, MB; Robert (Tina) Pilloud of Wawota, SK; Brian (Judy) Pilloud of Estevan, SK; 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; sister Emma Styck of Gimli, MB, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Minnie Spencer; brothers Harry, Art, Fred, John, and Dave Spencer; daughter in law Heather Pilloud as well as numerous brothers and sisters in law. A memorial service took place on Monday, December 22, 2014 at 2 PM at the Wawanesa Community Hall with Rev. Mark Murray officiating. Internment followed at Wawanesa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in Florences memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Unit 4B-457 9th St. Brandon, MB, R7A 1K2 or to the Wawanesa Community Foundation, Box 89 Wawanesa, MB, R0K 2G0.We wish to provide our heartfelt thanks to those who attended moms funeral, who sent cards or well wishes and to those who couldnt attend but had her in their thoughts. Thank you to the staff at Jamiesons Funeral Home, Rev. Mark Murray and the volunteers at the Hall. You made the day easier for all of us. A special thank you goes to the staff at Wawanesa PCH.
