REID: Marguerite Ethel Reid. After a heroic battle with cancer, Marguerite passed away at Brandon Regional Health Centre on December 27th, 2014. Marguerite was born September 2, 1923 to Albert and Ethel Phizacklea, an only child. They lived in the district of Lidcliff east of Binscarth, and she attended Lidford School. She attended United Church services which were held in the Lidcliff Community Hall. She was active member of Bayfield Sewing Circle and helped teach the 4-H instructing the girls in sewing and needle work. On December 4, 1947 she married George Alex Reid, she called him Alex, his friends and family called him Allie. They lived on the farm at Foxwarren before eventually moving to Brandon. They moved into Riverheights Terrace after it opened. After Allie passed away she continued to live there. During 16 years of their later farming years Allie & Marguerite wintered in Orange, CA where he worked on a chicken ranch. They attended races at Santa Anita and NHL games. They traveled twice to Alaska in their motorhome and also a trip to Japan. She was active in various organizations, Eastern Star, White Shrine, Khartum Shrine and Bayfield Sewing Circle. She was predeceased by her parents and is survived by sister-in-law Ann Reid and various cousins. Per Marguerites wishes there will just be a graveside service at a later date. Interment will be in the Foxwarren Cemetery. Donations may be made to Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation (Dialysis) or Eastern Star Chalet, Winnipeg.
