BRANDON: Winnifred Florence Louvain Brandon (nee Rankmore) January 2, 1918 - December 25, 2014. Winnie died suddenly at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on December 25, 2014 following a brief illness. She was the middle child of seven born to Fred and Emma Rankmore of Moore Park, Manitoba where she spent her childhood. After finishing Grade XI, she worked in the surrounding area until taking her nursing education at Dauphin General Hospital from 1939 to 1942. As a Registered Nurse, she worked in Dauphin, Brandon and Vancouver before marrying Milford Brandon of Ingelow, Manitoba, in 1946. They raised their family of Lon, Lynne and Fay on the farm near Ingelow and later in Carberry, Manitoba. She nursed at the Carberry Hospital and Personal Care Home from 1960 until retirement in 1978. She enjoyed the fellowship and friendship she found as a member of Sharon Chapter of the Eastern Star and Royal Purple Lodge in Carberry. Following Milfords death in 1989, she continued to live in Carberry until moving to Brandon in August 2013 where she resided at Victoria Landing Retirement Residence until her death. She was ever a kind and gentle mother and grandmother. She lived her life with a quiet strength, grace and dignity. She will be dearly missed by her family: son, Lon; daughters Lynne (Brian) Manns and Fay (Dave) Paskewitz; grandchildren Ian (Deepti) and Mark (Miwako) Manns; Amanda and Ken (Kelsey) Paskewitz; Christie (Jason) Smith; great grandchildren Emery, Greydon and Davis Smith. Also surviving are her sister, Lila McLeod and several nephews, nieces and their families. Just this past fall she completed the writing of her lifes story Yester Years - her memoirs which we will cherish forever. Interment took place at the Carberry Cemetery on January 2, 2015 followed by a service to celebrate her life at the Carberry United Church. Reverend Peggy Reid officiated. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of choice.
