WARNICK: Helen Marion Warnick October 21, 1930 – December 23, 2014. The family of Helen Warnick announce her peaceful passing at the age of 84, on December 23, 2014 during a short stay at Pinecrest Home for the Aged. Helen was born in Brandon, Manitoba on October 21, 1930 to parents Sally and William Lushaw . She was married to Mickey Warnick, on May 27, 1950 and lived in Brandon until relocating to Kenora in 1960 with her husband and two sons. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Mickey and sister Dorothy. She is survived by her older sister, Irene Smith of (Brandon, MB); her two sons, Gord and wife Pat, and Mike and wife Judy; grandchildren – Jeff and Brianne Warnick (Kenora) Lyndi Warnick and Tony Tiberia (Erin, ON), Keith and Angela Warnick (Russell, ON) and great grandchildren Sophia and Sawyer Warnick; Jason and Tina Warnick (Lake Country, B.C.); special niece, Lori and Art McComb (Brandon) and their son Nicklas, and nephews Rick and Brian. Helen enjoyed gardening, watching the birds and feeding the deer. In her younger days, she played ladies’ softball, was an avid curler – once achieving every curlers’ dream of an “8 ender” and for many years was a member of the Beauty Bay Ladies’ Golf Club spending Wednesdays on the links. She and Mickey spent many days on the lake when the boys were young. Her children and grandchildren will remember the traditional Ukrainian dishes she would make at special holidays, and when we finally could replicate them, we were quite proud of it, but they were never quite the same as Mom and Grandma’s were – she had that special touch. The family wishes to thank Dr. Jim Beveridge for his care over the past years – he was not only her physician but a friend to her as well; thank you to the nurses for the care during her short stay at Pinecrest - we knew she was well looked after. Thank you to Brian Campbell of CCAC for all the assistance provided. Many health problems had plagued her for the past several years, and we are relieved that her suffering is over and she has joined her husband Mickey. If so desired, donations can be made to Pinecrest Home for the Aged, 1220 Valley Drive, Kenora, ON P9N 2W7; Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation 21 Sylvan Street, Kenora, ON P9N 0E3 or a charity of one's choice. A private family service will be held at a later date. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Centre in care of arrangements.
