CLEMENTS: Kathleen Betty (nee McBeth) November 14, 1919 - December 23, 2014. Betty passed away peacefully at her residence at Rideau Park Personal Care Home in Brandon. She was the oldest of five children born to Harry and Edith McBeth and immigrated to Canada with her parents in 1920, settling at St. Andrews, Manitoba, where she received her education. In 1938, the family moved to Ingelow, Manitoba, where a farm was purchased and later sold to Bob Drysdale. She worked for Jim Doak & family after moving to Ingelow. In 1943, Betty married Ken Clements, who was in the Royal Air Force stationed at Carberry. Their wedding was the first held in Ingelow United Church, and Ken was sent to Europe shortly after their marriage. Their oldest son, Bruce, was born in 1944 but did not get to see his father until 1946 when Ken returned. Added to the family was their only daughter, Lynn, and youngest son, Scott. Betty was an active member of the Ingelow United Church and also belonged to the choir. She enjoyed singing, playing the piano, knitting, crocheting, sewing, and cooking. She was a leader of the Ingelow Nifty Niners 4-H Sewing Club for many years. Betty also used her car to transport students from Ingelow to Brookdale School prior to school buses being used. She later started working at Carnation in Carberry and retired from there when she was 70. For many years, Betty was the Ingelow correspondent for the Carberry News-Express. After Ken passed away in 1999, Betty stayed in Ingelow until she moved to Parkview Seniors Complex in Brandon in 2003, where she made many new friends and enjoyed all the activities. She moved to Rideau Park Personal Care Home in 2011, and again made more friends, enjoying activities and socializing. Betty thought very highly of the staff there, who took exceptional care of her during her stay. She was a very kind and understanding mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who lived with a positive and cheerful attitude to life. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Ken, in 1999 and son-in-law David Green, in 2013. She will be dearly missed by her family: sons Bruce (Doris) Clements, Scott (Anne) Clements, daughter Lynn Green; grandchildren Geoff (Tammy) Clements, Graham Clements, Theresa Green (Geoff Girardin), Susan Green (Dave Moore), Erin Green (Dean Meadows), Michael Clements, Joanna Clements, Matthew Clements; great- grandchildren, Brett and Graydon Clements, Kate and Finnlea Moore, and frequent visitor Natalie Meadows. Also surviving is her youngest sister, Nancy Shillington, Kindersley, SK, sisters-in-law, Margaret McBeth, Brandon and Marjorie "Chick" Wright and Joyce Plant of England, as well as cousins in Scotland, nieces and nephews in England, Kindersley, and Brandon area. Burial was held at Rosewood Cemetery with service at Brockie-Donovan Funeral Home on December 30, 2014.
