NOWOSAD: Angela Nellie Nowosad (November 2, 1919- February 9, 2015). It is with deepest sorrow the family of Nellie Nowosad announces her passing on Monday, February 9, 2015 at the Shoal Lake Hospital. She leaves to mourn, daughter Leona Mackedenski (Lorne) of Erickson, son Orest Nowosad (Sylvia) of Oakburn, son Melvin Nowosad of Winnipeg, 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, brother Bert of Birtle, sister-in-law Muriel of Winnipeg and many nieces and nephews. Nellie was predeceased by her husband Michael, sons Leonard and Eugene and great- grandson Benjamin; brothers, Paul, Murray, Edward, Edgar, Philip, Roy, Lyle and sister, Helen Hersak. Nellie was born in Angusville, Manitoba on November 2, 1919 to Mihasko and Palakna Mushumanski. Nellie married Michael Nowosad and moved to a farm north of Oakburn. Nellie moved to Shoal Lake after she was widowed. Nellie was employed for many years at the Buffalo Plains Inn. She continued to be an active member of the Oakburn Ladies Church league. Nellie resided at the Morley House and enjoyed visiting with relatives and friends. The Funeral service was held on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Josaphats Ukrainian Catholic Church in Shoal Lake, Manitoba. Interment followed at the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Oakburn, Manitoba. Father Mykhaylo Khomitskyy officiated. Pallbearers were Lisa Mackedenski, Lori Mackedenski, Brent Hoar, Elsie Yip, Trenton Nowosad and Greg Zulyniak. Crossbearer was Lasha Mackedenski. Raes Funeral Home was in care of funeral arrangements.
