ROY: Marie Roy passed away peacefully at her residence, Fairview Home on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the age of 93 years. She was the second of nine children born to Leontine and Benoit Fouillard of St. Lazare, Manitoba and lived there until her marriage to Edgar Roy in 1946. After residing in Saskatchewan for the first 11 years of marriage, Marie and Edgar moved their young and growing family to Brandon and there put down permanent roots. Throughout her life Marie was blessed with wonderful neighbours and friends and in her senior years moved into Lions Manor where she especially enjoyed the many social activities. She always kept an open door for the many extended family members that she was happy to receive into her home. Several of Maries nieces and nephews would become part of her home, most attending school, and she developed a special bond with each of them. Marie was an excellent cook and was well known to present a wonderful meal at a moments notice. A naturally talented seamstress, she took great joy and pride in work. She encouraged others by patiently sharing her expertise and enjoyed all opportunities to learn new crafting skills. These were many. Marie became an active participant in Heart Rehab program at the YMCA and much like her full commitment to all she did, healthy living became her focus. Her strong commitment to family and faith gave her strength to persevere through lifes challenges right to the very end. Maries children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her lifes treasures and she took great interest in all that they did. Marie was predeceased by her husband Edgar; beloved son Damien; son-in-law Ross; sisters Sr. Rosalie and Corinne; brothers Denis and Paul-Emile and numerous in-laws. Left to cherish her memory are daughters Rose-Anne (Joe), Jacquie and Juliette (Ron); grandchildren Matthew (Loni), Stephen (Jen), Patrick and Melanie Thompson, Garrett (Jessi-Beth) and Laura Popplestone; great-grandchildren Emmalie, Aidan and Ava Thompson. She is also survived by siblings: Lazare Fouillard, Sr. Anita Fouillard , Ben (Clara) Fouillard and Jacqueline Lemoine, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family will always be grateful for the kind care that Marie received from the supportive staff at Fairview Home. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, February 7, 2015 with Rev. Fr. Patrick Neufeld as Celebrant. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery. If friends so desire donations in memory of Marie may be made to a charity of choice. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com.
