SEXTON: Martin (Marty) Irwin Sexton passed away tragically on Monday, February 16th, 2015 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 51. Beloved husband of Diane and devoted father of Jodi (Oliver) and Allison (Mark); surrogate son Stephen (Rachel) Clark and special “Grrrandpa” to their children Raeggie and Avi. Son of Wilma Sexton; brothers Allan (Ramonalee) and Richard (Rosalind). Nieces and Nephew: Katrina (Roy) Justus; Jerilyn (Shane) Potts and Jeff (Marcie) Sexton. Father and mother- in-law Wayne and Evelyn Bowles; sister-in-law Donna (Dan) McCausland. Nieces and Nephews: Andrew and Michelle Janz; Madison and Melissa McCausland. He was predeceased by his father, Norman Z Sexton, in 1995; his baby daughter, Nicole, in 1991; and his sister-in-law, Sharon Bowles, in 2000. Marty was born and raised on a farm in the Regent district and attended school in Deloraine, MB. He graduated from Brandon University with a Bachelor of Science and continued his education at the University of Manitoba obtaining his degree in Pharmacy. Diane and Marty were married in 1988 and resided in Crystal City, Manitoba. They moved to Dauphin in 1989 and entered into a partnership at Stitts Super Thrifty. In 1995, they purchased Interlake Pharmacy and moved to Stonewall. With hard work and entrepreneurial drive Marty became a prominent business man and was eager to contribute to his community. The volunteer hours he and Diane put in are countless. Their contributions helped the success of numerous organizations such as Ducks Unlimited, Delta Waterfowl, Veteran’s Memorial Sports Complex, and numerous sports programs. Marty always had a smile on his face and nothing made him happier than being involved with Jodi and Allison’s academic and extracurricular activities. He touched the hearts of so many female athletes and jumped at the chance to hear about and celebrate their accomplishments. Being raised in rural Manitoba fueled Marty’s passion for the outdoors. Waterfowl, upland birds, and big game hunting were many of his favorite past times. Anything that would bite a hook, he would happily reel in! Through hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities, Marty formed many close friendships. As Marty made friends wherever his adventures took him, he will be sadly missed by many people. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 23rd, 2015 beginning at 2:00 pm at MacKenzie Funeral Home in Stonewall. We invite all in attendance to wear a favorite sports jersey or hunting camouflage clothing to celebrate Marty’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Delta Waterfowl or Two Nations Female Hockey. The family would like to extend their appreciation for all the support they have received. Memories and photos of Marty can be sent to inmemoryofmartysexton@gmail.com
