ROBERTSON: On Saturday February 28th with his family by his side, our loving husband/father Boyd Robertson passed away peacefully after a long happy life. Boyd was born in Palmer, Saskatchewan on March 26th, 1932 and grew up in the Riding Mountain area and finished his schooling in McCreary. He met his lifelong mate Barb (nee Ross) while working at the Royal Bank in Melita, Manitoba. They have been happily married for 61 years and enjoyed life to the fullest. Boyd spent 39 years with the Royal Bank, where he had 26 different positions in 14 different locations. He left them twice, once to go to University and then again to go and work for a US Bank in Montana. He was lured back to the Royal bank and retired from there in 1989. He was a former Director of the CNIB and also the Canadian Special Olympics, as well as many other organizations. He was also very proud to have been the President of the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce for many years. His retirement was spent trying to bring down his golf handicap; he had a real passion for the sport. He was fortunate enough to have made it to the Canadian Seniors more than once and to have worked the Bob Hope Classic on several occasions. Retirement allowed him to fulfill a life time dream of developing and building an 18 hole Championship golf course. This dream came true in 2009 with the opening of Poplar Ridge Golf Course in Onanole, Manitoba. Boyd was pre deceased by his parents Russell and Frances Robertson, his daughter Janice Steeves and his Great Granddaughter Hope Steeves. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Barb (Ross), his daughter Cheryl (Bill), son Ian (Sue), Son In law Gord as well as 8 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren. Also left to mourn are his brothers Garth (Lorraine), Lyle (Adeline) and many Nieces and Nephews and our adopted Myers family. The Family would like to thank the Doctors involved in Dads care as well as friends and family. We have a special thank you to the incredible staff at the Minnedosa Health Centre. Our hearts are filled with gratitude for the amazing care that he received in his final days. The kindness and compassion shown by everyone will never be forgotten. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Terry Fox Foundation or a charity of your choosing. Funeral services to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Minnedosa United Church, Minnedosa, Manitoba. Reception to follow.
