COCHRANE: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Adele Lorraine Cochrane age 76 years of Hamiota, Manitoba on Tuesday February 24, 2015 at the Hamiota and District Health Centre. Lorraine is survived by her husband Gary; daughter Heather (Rob), and son Blaine (Trina), and grandchildren: Melissa (Brett), Riley, Quinn, and Brody. Lorraine was born on August 11, 1938 at Hamiota, Manitoba, to Harvey and Ruby Gray. After she completed her schooling in Oakner Consolidated School, she headed to Winnipeg to attend secretarial college. Once she graduated from the two year course, she found employment with Blue Cross. In all she was in Winnipeg for four years, before she decided to head back home and marry Gary Cochrane. Together, they purchased the Gray family farm and ran a mixed livestock and grain farm. Heather was born in 1963, and Blaine was born in 1967. Lorraine was involved in all aspects of the farm, from hauling grain, to raising livestock, and growing a bountiful garden. For many years she enjoyed driving the local school van to meet the local school bus. She served as secretary of the Hamiota Ag Society for 15 years, and also was the Secretary Treasurer for Park Residence. Lorraine was a competitive sports enthusiast, curling competitively at a high level. As much as participating, she loved watching sports, especially when it involved her kids and grandkids. She never missed a curling game, hockey game, or ball game. She loved to do crossword, and jigsaw puzzles while watching many sporting events on tv. Lorraine touched many lives, and those who knew her will remember her for her infectious laugh, sharp wit, love for a good joke, and getting together with friends to enjoy a good cup of coffee. A private family graveside service was held on Saturday February 28, 2015 at Scotia Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Campbell Funeral Home, Hamiota, Manitoba. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Lorraine's memory to the Hamiota Agricultural Society, Hamiota, Manitoba, R0M 0T0 or to the Hamiota and District Sports Complex Memorial Fund, Box 100, Hamiota Manitoba, R0M 0T0, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 824 18th Street Unit #3, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 5B7. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at the Hamiota and District Health Centre who helped us on such a difficult day. Also to Campbell Funeral Home, and the many friends and family who phoned, dropped by, and shared their thoughts with us about Lorraine.
