JOHNSTON: Terry Ann Johnston, age 59 years of Brandon, passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Friday, February 20, 2015. Terry was born on January 23, 1956 at Iserlohn, Germany where her dad was stationed as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces. She was the third child of eight born to Andy and Edna Eckhart. The family returned to Canada and lived in Petawawa and then Shilo where they remained until her Dad's retirement. Terry attended school on the base at Shilo. Right out of school, she went to work at the Brandon Mental Health Centre as management in the dietary department until the institution closed. Terry then went to work in the stores office at Maple Leaf for the past fourteen years. Terry's first marriage was to Brent Chamberlain and together they had a daughter Tracy, born in 1983. Later, while working at BMHC, she met Don Johnston. They were married on March 12, 1993 and Terry became a second mom to Don's boys, Brett and Kyle. Terry enjoyed cooking and was great at it, which her children really appreciated. Her bookshelves were full of cookbooks and her special meals would impress the boy's girlfriends when they were home for dinner. Terry loved to play cards, especially cribbage and rummy, with her family members. She was good and quick at the math, and taught Brett and Kyle to play as well. Terry also enjoyed reading, dancing, travelling, music-sharing Brett and Kyle's musical interests, classic movies with Cary Grant, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, murder mysteries - watching "Murder She Wrote", and animals - especially dogs. Terry loved Christmas time and shopping to get the right gift for everyone, but most of all she loved looking after her family. Terry will be deeply missed by her husband Don; children Tracy, Brett (girlfriend Trish) and Kyle (girlfriend Jessica). She will be lovingly remembered by her mom Edna; siblings Rick (Joanne), David, Carol (Rob), Linda (Jim), Donald (Deanna), Susan (Joey); brother-in-law Brent (Charlene) as well as numerous nieces and nephews, friends and co-workers. Terry was predeceased by her dad Andy, sister Donna and brother-in-law Danny. The Celebration of Terry's Life took place at Central United Church on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. Lydia Glawson, Funeral Celebrant officiated. Urn Bearers were her children Tracy, Brett and Kyle. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery.
