DECHKA: Mildred Amelia Dechka (Kelor). It is one year since Mildred passed away at the age of 99 years. Born December 4, 1914 and passed away on March 25, 2014. Mildred enjoyed the last six years of her life, living in Fairview Personal Care Home. She was very grateful for all the care and support she received from the staff. Prior to 2008, Mildred grew up and lived her whole adult life in the north end of Brandon. She is remembered as the evening supervisor on the conveyor belt at McKenzie Seeds. Many volunteer hours were spent with the Royal Purple Ladies and the NDP Ladies. In Mildreds honor the members of the Brandon Royal Purple Lodge No. 138 have made a donation to the Elks and Royal Purple Fund for Children. This dedication has been placed in the Golden Book of Memories which is a permanent record of those names that have been inscribed through memorial contributions to the Elks and Royal Purple Fund for children. Mildred was predeceased by her husband Mike, sons Barry, Murray and Wayne; son-in-law Darrell Hensrud; sisters Helen Stinson, Frances Sundue, Vicky Kelor and brother Joe Kelor. Family left to remember her are daughters Judy Cumming, Shirley Hensrud; grandchildren Carrie (Rick) Basaraba, Corinne (Brent) Willms; great-grandchildren, Christi and Rylie Basaraba and Brant and Courtney Willms; sister-in-law Julia Kelor; and brother-in-law George Sundue and their families. This past July a celebration of Mildreds life and her son Waynes life was held at the North End Community Centre following a graveside service. Special thank you to those who attended the service and the luncheon.
