VAN HOUCKE: We are saddened to announce the passing of Bernice Louise Van Houcke (Nanny) on April 7, 2015. Bernice was born in Deloraine, MB on August 7, 1935 to parents Anchor and Margaret Nielson, residing with her five siblings (Lilian predeceased, Gladys predeceased), Lucille, Florence and Lawrence. The sun rose on the stones of the home her dad built with his hands. The moon and stars glowed on the land of the Turtle Mountains. The land of love and hardships. She raised four children Janine, Steven (Calvina), Kim, Curt, in Brandon, MB. A home of music, family, friends, apple pie, shining hardwood floors, country guitars, singing and dancing. She leaves six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A cowgirl goes home to a peaceful eternity in Goodlands, MB at a later date. A “Come and Go Tea” in memory of Bernice, will be held Sunday, April 12th, 2015, 1332-26th Street, Brandon from 2:00-5:00 p.m.
