MITCHELL: Keith Stuart. February 13, 1929 - April 11, 2015. It is with deep sorrow that the family of Mr. Keith Mitchell announces his passing at the age of 86. Keith died unexpectedly, but peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 11, with his beloved wife at his side. Left to mourn are his wife Ethel M. (nee: Robertson); his children: Gordon (Clare Everest) of Vancouver, Bob (Joanne Dixon) of Calgary, Cindy (Kurt Saunders) of Ottawa, Nancy (Mark) Addison of Jasper, and Jim (Lizanne Hilton) of Burlington; his step-children Gordon Lawson (Phyllis) of Cape Coral, Florida and Marilyn Walorny of Beamsville; and his 20 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, all of whom he cherished. They are: Marit (Toronto),Charlotte (London U.K.),and Joey Mitchell (Vancouver) Karl (Nanaimo), Ian and Keith Mitchell (Edmonton) Denison Saunders (Ottawa), Matthew, Bernice, Clare and Luke Addison (Jasper) Kendall (Toronto), Gordon and Will Mitchell (Burlington) Daniel (Rebeccah) Lawson, great grandchildren Josh, Jenna & Ben (Springfield, MO) Peter (Molly) Lawson (Tulsa, OK) Stephen, Samara, Krystana, and Alexandra Walorny (Beamsville, ON). Keith will be greatly missed by his brother Hugh (Elonna) of Vancouver. Keith was predeceased by his brother Denison and son-in-law Steve Walorny. Keith's best friend Clair Murray passed away last November. Keith will also be greatly missed by his nieces, nephews and his many friends. Keith was born in Brandon, Manitoba and lived the first 42 years of his life there. His working life in Brandon centred around the family’s GM dealership Western Motors Ltd. In 1971, he and Ethel moved to the Niagara region where Keith spent more than 20 years as President and CEO of CAA Niagara, St. Catharines. After retiring at 65, Keith and Ethel have been residing in Fonthill, Ontario. Keith enjoyed traveling the world with Ethel and his many CAA colleagues. He loved curling and golf as well as playing cards with his friends. Keith and Ethel rescued many dogs through the years, taking them in when others had abandoned them. He loved all dogs and they loved him, and his heart broke each time he had to say good-bye. Keith's incredible memory and keen intellect lent themselves to a wry sense of humour. Keith was a devoted husband, father and friend. At Keith's request cremation has taken place. The memorial service to honour Keith's life will take place today at the James L. Pedlar Funeral Home, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill. A reception will follow at the Lookout Point Golf Course. The interment of Keith's ashes will take place in August in Brandon, Manitoba. A “celebration of life” will be held after at Clear Lake, in Riding Mountain National Park. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to a The Canadian Cancer Society.
