STAMFORD: Fredrick, William of Miniota, MB, born December 3, 1932, died March 31, 2015 after a brief illness with cancer. He was the second youngest of eight born to Jim and Mabel. Fred was raised on the family farm near Reeder, MB and attended Wynona school nearby. He began mixed and dairy farming on the family farm after he left school. June 18, 1960, he married Helen Eileen Steven. They had three daughters, Dorinda, Brenda, Sharon and one son, Barry. Spring on the farm, Fred would bring home pussy willows, crocuses, and displaced baby ducks, rabbits and painted turtles for us to admire. He was even seen herding cattle on a dirt bike in our later years on the farm. Fred was active in maintaining Wynona Community School and was awarded the Bill Clark Volunteer Award in 2013 for his dedication. Fred and Eileen sold the family farm and moved into Miniota in 2002. Fred would spend time walking through town chatting with friends. He became active at the Miniota Drop-In Center, where he would put on coffee for friends arriving for shuffle tournaments. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Jim and Mabel; mother and father in law, Helen and Tom Steven; sisters, Anne, Irene, Jessie; sisters in law, Edythe, Roberta; brothers in law, Fred, Ken, Bob, Lorne, Melburn, Clare, Ed, Ross and one niece, Elaine. He is survived by his wife Eileen of 54 years, daughters Dorinda (Roy) Stamford, Brenda (Ron) Ryan, Sharon (Scott) Medd, and Barry (Barb) Stamford; grandchildren Blaine, Amanda, Trevor, Lasha, Kristy, Chris, Kelly, Carmen, Matt, Scott, Aylssa, Shanisse, Carson, Shelby, Nick, Colby and Riley, great-grandchildren Karyssa, Maliah, Lacey, Remmie, Riley, Hailey, Hudson and Kash, sisters Lily Bowles, Mabel Boyce, Enid Lawrence, brother Ted (Pat) Stamford, brother in law Earl (Anne) Steven, and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside Funeral Service was held April 6, 2015 at Miniota Cemetery and reception at Miniota Community Center following. Donations can be made to Hamiota Palliative Care Unit, Cancer Care Manitoba, or to the Miniota Drop-In Center. Campbell's Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
