JOHNSON: Donna Charlotte (nee Dandridge) passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side, at her residence of Hillcrest Place, on February 5, 2015. Born in Shoal Lake, MB, Donna was the youngest of four children. She lived on the family farm while completing grade 11 and then began her working career with the Royal Bank. During those years Donna met the love of her life, Al. They were married August 11, 1951. After building their home on 12th Street and welcoming two daughters into their family, Donna quit working outside the home. She devoted her life to being a fulltime wife and mother. Over the years, Donna supported Al's passion for flying and spent countless hours at the Brandon Flying Club where Al had been a member for many years. With Donna as a "co-pilot", she and Al flew their daughters in their private plane on many winter vacations throughout the U.S.. So much of her time had been spent at the flying club volunteering at fly-in breakfasts, cleaning, painting and having coffee with other members and their spouses. Many lifelong friendships were formed over those years. Donna volunteered for the Girl Guides of Canada for over 10 years. But most importantly she devoted most of her time to family. Family always came first and she sacrificed many of her own dreams to ensure their happiness ahead of her own. Donna will be lovingly remembered by daughters Kim (Jeff) Miller and Linda (Brad) Gradidge and grandchildren Kristie and A.J. Miller; Lisa and Kaylie Gradidge. She is also survived by special friend Phyllis (Roy) Sobchuk, whom Donna called "my rock". Donna was predeceased by husband Al in 1996. A very profound and special thank you to the entire staff at Hillcrest Place for all the care and love they gave "Big D" over the past two years while she was a resident there. To Dr. Maier and Dr. Large a sincere thank you for the past and most recent care and support provided to Donna and her family. A private graveside service will take place with Rev. Barb Jardine officiating. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Donna may be made to Hillcrest Place, 930-26th Street, Brandon, MB R7B 2B8 or the Brandon Humane Society, 2200 17th Street East, Brandon, MB R7A 7M6.Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com.
