CAREY: The death of Celia "Daisy" Carey (nee Thorley) occurred at her residence, Fairview Home, on April 23, 2015. Born January 14, 1920 in Brandon, Manitoba, Daisy was the youngest daughter of James and Celia Thorley. She received her education in the Brandon school system. Daisy was a wonderful housewife and mother to Wayne and Karen. She also worked in the Rumsford Laundry and Brandon University in housekeeping. Daisy enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, travelling to England, Victoria and Calgary. She enjoyed watching women's softball, was involved with Alexander School, and was a member of the Brandon Firefighters Women's Auxiliary and the Brandon YMCA. Daisy will be lovingly remembered by daughter-in-law Janice Carey of Calgary, AB; grandsons Blair Carey (Tara), great grandchildren Shayna, Orli, Samara, Rachel and Michael of Pardes Hana, Israel; Phillip (Amy) Carey and great-grandchildren Lauren, Logan and Jacob of Atlanta, GA. She was predeceased by her daughter Karen, son Wayne, parents James and Celia Thorley of Brandon; brothers Jack, Herb and Jim; sister Ethel and her former husband Jack Carey. There will be a graveside service at the Brandon Cemetery on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Chris Arthur will officiate. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Daisy may be made to the Firefighters Burn Fund - Brandon Fire Department, 120-19th Street North, Brandon, MB R7B 3X6 or to the War Amps, 1 Maybrook Drive, Scarborough, ON M1V 5K9.
