PHILLIPS: Brian John Phillips of Killarney MB passed away suddenly at his home April 14, 2015 at the age of 69. Brian was born July 3, 1945 in Brandon MB to John and Audrey Phillips nee Brownridge. Brian was raised on the family farm in the Glanton area. He attended Gourlay school, then Glanton school and went to high school at Elton Collegiate in Forrest MB. He graduated in 1963 and went on to take his post secondary schooling at Red River College in Winnipeg where he graduated as a combined Lab and X-ray technologist. After graduation Brian worked in Grandview, then Souris, and moved to Killarney in 1970 where he worked for 27 years as Area Chief Technologist of the Southwest Lab and X-ray Area until he retired. Brian met Betty Reed of Chater MB in 1964 and they were married October 12, 1968. They had two children – Sean David born December 11, 1973 and Trisha Dawn born June 28, 1976. Brian is survived by his wife Betty, son Sean (Jackie) Phillips, daughter Trisha (Dave) Paddock and four grandchildren of whom he was so proud, Brayden and Rhiannan Phillips and Brett and Darrys Paddock. He is also survived by his mother Audrey, his sister Marilyn (George) Curtis and brother-in-law Nelson (Ann) Reed. He was predeceased by his father John J. Phillips in 2012. The funeral service was held at Killarney United Church April 17, 2015 with Rev. Maria Szabo-Berces officiating, organist Glenda Archibald of Killarney MB, soloist David Hillis of Brandon MB and a favourite poem was read by Karen Garabed. The eulogy was read by Brian’s two nieces, Tracey Drozda and Sheri Bryant. Following the service Brian was given the honor of having his last ride with the Fire Dept. to his final resting place in Killarney Cemetery.
