MARGETTS: Richard Donald "Rick" Margetts, beloved husband, and best friend of Noreen, passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Monday, May 4, 2015 at the age of 73 years. Rick was born in Russell, Manitoba to Len and Mabel Margetts on February 24, 1942. His family moved to Brandon in January 1960, where he attended both BCI and Vincent Massey. He and Noreen were married in 1965 and their son Rob was born in 1966. Rick worked at Brandon Glass and Keystone Glass. He and Noreen owned and operated the laundromat on 26th Street and Victoria Avenue and built the car wash on 26th Street and Brandon Avenue. Later, he was a salesman for Loewen Windows and before retiring worked at McMunn and Yates. Rick was a member of Jaycees and of the Kinsmen Club. He was predeceased by his father, Len, in 2000, his mother, Mabel, in 1976, and his niece, Amy McKay, in 1998. He is survived by his wife Noreen; son Rob (Wendy); granddaughters Jody (Curtis) Kehler, Jenna (Taylor) Erskine; great grandchildren Evan Kehler and Arya Erskine; sister Sandra Willoughby; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bob and Dyann McKay as well as niece and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Special thank you to special people: Shannon Morrow Stritz, Laura Lee Shearer, Doug Anderson, Val Schrot, Corinne Lucy and Michelle Atchison. The Ceremony to Celebrate Rick's life will take place at Memories Chapel, 330 18th Street North, on Saturday, May 9, 2015 (TODAY) at 2:30 p.m. Rev. David Wilson will officiate. A private interment will be held at the Brandon Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Rick may be made to the Alzheimer's Society, Unit 5B-457 9th Street, Brandon, MB R7A 1K2 or to a charity of choice.
