SPENCER:(nee Hutton). With sadness the family of Helen Spencer, age 83 years, announce that her death occurred on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Born July 28, 1931 in Winnipeg, Helen was raised in St. James and also attended school there. She completed her secretarial courses and graduated from Business College. Helen worked as a stenographer for various businesses in Winnipeg prior to moving to Brandon. While living in Winnipeg, Helen met her husband Ted and they were married in October 1953. Upon moving to Brandon, she joined Simplot in 1981 and worked there until her retirement in 1990. Avid dancers, Helen and Ted were members of the Circle 8 and Satellite Squares square dance club. Helen also enjoyed clogging and line dancing with the Keystone Dancers. Among her many interests were crafting, reading and especially being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Helen was very proud of her children and how they had achieved their goals in life. She enjoyed volunteering at the 1997 Canada Summer Games. While Helen was able, she loved travelling to visit her family. In more recent years, she enjoyed going on outings with her "Tea Ladies" and caring for her great-grandchildren. She was also involved with Trinity United Church activities. Helen was predeceased by her husband Ted, great- granddaughter Mackenzie and brothers James, Robert, John. Left to cherish Helen's memory are her children: Larry (Cathy), Debbie (Henry) Colon, Bob (Ruth), Don (Kathy), Dianne (Gary) Lipinski, and Barry (Karen) as well as fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great- grandchildren, sisters Elizabeth and Chris, brothers-in-law Neil, Ken, and Bruce and sister -in-law Peggy. The Ceremony to Celebrate Helen's Life will take place at Trinity United Church, 1515-6th Street, on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Sanderson officiating. Donations in memory of Helen may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation - Ambulatory Care Unit - Hemodialysis Unit, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB R7A 2B3.
