HOLOWICK: With family at her side, Diane Holowick peacefully passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Thursday, May 21, 2015. In Dauphin, Manitoba, Diane was born on July 17, 1954, daughter of the late Mary and Peter Merko. After high school in Dauphin, she made her home and raised her family in Brandon. Diane always welcomed you with open arms, ensured that you were very well fed and insisted on having a doggy bag and ample snacks for the road. She loved cooking and sharing the fruits of her labour. Travel to Chicago, Toronto, Las Vegas and Alberta was always a true adventure. She enjoyed gardening, all sorts of puzzles, watching curling, reading and 1980's music. Diane was a gentle, caring person with a very generous heart, and an amazing sense of humour, even after her dire diagnosis. While in hospital, Diane always greeted us with a smile and expected a smile in return. She was remarkably courageous facing an incurable disease ; never complaining about anything. Forever cherishing her memory are daughters Melanie (Kevin) Headland, Amber (Rob) Pink, Megan Holowick, and sister Shirley (Peter) Brezden. She will be dearly missed by grandchildren Ashley Holowick, Kennedy and Sydney Headland and Hunter Pink. Deeply saddened are nephews Noel (Maureen) Brezden and children Emily and Mabel, and Julian (Nelly) Brezden and children Isabella and Maxwell all of Edmonton. Diane leaves behind numerous devoted and compassionate friends. At Memories Chapel on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, a Funeral Service was held, officiated by Rev. Peter Brezden, with interment at Brandon Cemetery. Reception and fellowship followed. To honour Diane's memory, a donation could be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415 1st Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 2W8. We are grateful to everyone for their support, compassion and prayers which gave Diane courage; and strengthened those who love her. May Her Memory be Eternal! Rest in Peace, dear Diane.Meet You At The GateA beautiful garden now stands alone, missing the one who nurtured itBut now she is gone,Her flowers still bloom, and the sun, it still shines,But the rain is like tear drops, for the ones left behind,The weeds lay waiting to take the gardens beauty away,But the beautiful memories of its keeper are in our hearts to stay, she loved every flower, even some that were weeds,So much love she would plant with each little seed,But just like her flowers, she was part of Gods plan,So when it was her time, he reached down his hand,He looked through the Garden searching for the best,That's when he found Diane, it was her time to rest,It was hard for those who loved her, to just let her go,But God had a spot in his garden that needed a gentle soul, so when you start missing Diane, remember if you just wait,When God has a spot in his garden,She'll meet you at the gate...
