WELLS: With sadness the family of George Robert Wells announce that his death occurred on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at his residence, Fairview Home. Born June 6, 1926 at Ninga, Manitoba, to Charles and Annie Wells, George grew up in the Wakopa and Killarney areas. He schooled in the Wakopa one room school house, making many close, long-time friends and obtaining his grade eight education. During his working years, George had numerous jobs including working for Silverwood Ice cream, where he travelled southern Manitoba and Saskatchewan; Perth's dry cleaners; being a Corrections Officer in the late 60-70s at the old Brandon jail site, and eventually retired from Agricultural School as property manager in 1989. George was known for cutting and delivering many loads of fire wood over a 30-40 year span. He enjoyed hunting, particularly moose, and loved times spent on the farm, with family, especially the baling activities. Left to cherish George's memory are: his wife Hilda Wells (nee Leifso); children; Douglas (Heather) Wells, Judith (Derek) Kindrat, Betty (Eugene) Chalanchuk, and Nancy (Ron) Thomas. There are ten grandchildren and thirteen great- grandchildren. He was predeceased by his siblings: Harry Wells, Ada Anderson, Margaret Ryan, Evelyn Henry and Eleanor Smith. A graveside service was held at the Brandon Cemetery on Thursday, July 23, 2015. A Memorial Service followed at Memories Chapel with Arlene Robertson officiating. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Mr. Wells may be made to a charity of choice. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com.
