STAMFORD: Helen Eileen of Miniota, MB. Born September 13, 1935, died Sunday, August 9, 2015 after a brief illness with cancer. She was the youngest of five born to Tom and Helen Steven. Eileen was raised on the family farm near Kenton and attended school until grade 11 there. She worked in the Royal Bank in Miniota after school, where she met Fred Stamford and married on June 18, 1960. They had three daughters, Dorinda, Brenda, Sharon, and one son, Barry. Eileen was a busy farmhand and housewife. If she wasnt dragging kids to the field to deliver lunch, milking cows, feeding chickens, or hauling grain, she was busy picking berries, canning fruit or making fresh buns. She kept the farm and the household going. Eileen was also active in maintaining the Wynona Community School with Fred and loved to be a part in the Wynona Ladies Club with monthly meetings and Mystery Friends. Fred and Eileen sold the family farm in 2002 and moved into Miniota. Eileen became a regular at the Drop-In Center where she would participate in the Shuffle Tournaments. She always had time for coffee with friends. She was predeceased by her husband Fred earlier this year; her parents Helen and Tom Steven; her mother and father in-law Mabel and Jim Stamford; sisters Edythe, Roberta; brother Lorne; brothers in-law Clare, Milburn, Fred, Ken, Bob, Ed, Ross; sisters-in-law Anne, Irene, Jessie, and one niece, Elaine. She is survived by daughters Dorinda Stamford, Brenda (Ron) Ryan, Sharon (Scott) Medd, and son Barry (Barb) Stamford; grandchildren Blaine, Amanda, Trevor, Lasha, Kristy, Chris, Kelly, Shane, Carmen, Matt, Scott, Alyssa, Shanisse, Carson, Shelby, Nic, Colby, Riley; great grandchildren Karyssa, Maliah, Lacey, Remmie, Riley, Hailey, Hudson and Kash; brother Earl (Anne) Steven; sisters in-law Lily Bowles, Mabel Boyce, Enid Lawrence; brother in-law Ted (Pat) Stamford and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to join the family at a reception at the Miniota Community Center, Miniota, MB on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 11:30am. A private family graveside service will take place at the Miniota Cemetery.
