SALYN: Diane (nee Shwaluk) It is with great sadness that the family of Diane Salyn, age 68 years of Brandon, announce that she passed away on Monday, November 16, 2015 after a brief battle with cancer. Diane was born in Rossburn on July 15, 1947. She married Bill Salyn on October 12, 1968 in Oakburn and they settled in Brandon shortly after to raise a family. Diane was an extended mother to many children as she enjoyed a long career operating a home daycare. She enjoyed spending time with her children and was especially overjoyed when she was blessed with the gift of grandchildren. Diane was predeceased by her mother Lena (nee Peech) in 1986, and brother John Shwaluk in 2012. Left to mourn her passing is her father Matt Shwaluk; her husband Bill Salyn of Brandon; her sons and their families: Terry (Deb), Jackson and Matthew of Carberry; Jeff (Nadine Laturnus) and Piper of Saskatoon; and Brad (Joleen), Falena and Rowan of Winnipeg. Divine Liturgy was celebrated at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church on Friday, November 20th, 2015 with Reverend Father Michael Tkachuk, celebrant. Cantor was Stella Fedeniuk. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at the Assiniboine Centre for their assistance, kindness and professionalism. If friends and family so desire, mass offerings or a donation to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation for Cancer Services, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB R7A 2B3, would be appreciated. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com.
