CLARK: June Viola Laura (Edmunds) of Brandon Manitoba passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, November 11, 2015. She leaves to mourn her husband of 68 years Ken Clark, daughters Gail Smith (Wayne), Wanda Clark (Barrie Mellin), Valerie Carton (Ken); grandchildren Darren Smith (Calgary), Brenda (Smith) Payne (Eric) (Rochester Mn), Kristy (Carton) Soholt (Kacey) (Minot ND), Kolby Carton (Pam MacDearmid) (Brandon); Great grandchildren Ty Smith, Aiden Liston, Parker Soholt, Brody Soholt and Charlotte Payne. June was born June 11, 1929 and was raised in Shoal Lake Manitoba. She was the only daughter of Lillian and Frank Edmunds. She had two older brothers, Frazer and Leslie and two younger brothers, Gordon and Garry. Mom worked for a year as a telephone operator before marrying Dad on October 25, 1947. She then moved from Shoal Lake to Dad’s farm in Isabella Manitoba. Mom adjusted to farm life helping Dad with the farming and making great meals and lunches for Dad and anyone helping with the farm. Mom became very involved in the community as a leader and member of the women’s groups, teaching Sunday School, Messengers and being a leader in the girls groups of CGIT and Explorers. Mom and Dad took part in the activities of the community. They also enjoyed getting a group together for Dine and Dance events, house parties or Sunday suppers. In 1983 Mom and Dad retired from the farm and moved to Brandon Manitoba where their children and grandchildren live. In Brandon they enjoyed going to and having family garage sales. They also liked to go to Auctions and buy antiques. Mom and Dad attended many of their grandchildren’s baseball and hockey games and various concerts. Many family gatherings were enjoyed at Mom and Dad’s house. Mom also became involved in charities such as Christmas Cheer and the Annual Christmas Dinners in Brandon. Mom and Dad bought a motor home and along with their families, travelled to parts of Ontario, the west coast and the US. They also spent many weekends at Clear Lake. They travelled to Hawaii, Jamaica, Victoria and Florida. Mom loved to knit and sew. Throughout the years she made many clothes and costumes for her children. Dad said that he could remember her staying up very late at night on the farm to finish an outfit that she was making. Later she knitted many hats, scarves and mitts for charities and her grandchildren. June was predeceased by her parents Lillian Munshaw (Edmunds) (Rowley) and Frank Edmunds; her brother Frazer Edmunds and sister in law Alice Edmunds, brother Leslie Edmunds and sister in law Joyce Edmunds, sister in law Carol (Clark) and Louis Quinn. A daughter Penny died in infancy. June will be laid to rest at a later date.
