THOMPSON: Bernice Mae (Nestibo) Thompson, born September 17, 1926, she passed away August 11, 2015. Mom moved to Brandon in 1975. She worked at Hillcrest Home, 1975-76, next she worked at Woolco, 1976-78. Bernice was looking after husband Gordon at this time, he passed away in May, 1977. She went to visit Jim and Tammy Baker in Charlotte, NC by car in 1977 and in 1986 Grandma got sick in Columbus, Ohio and she flew her home. In 1980 she worked at Carleton Cards on Rosser. In the 80s she worked at Marvel Cleaning in The Thomas Mall, she had many laughs says the previous owner. She worked at We Care for a couple of years, The Brandon School Division from 1988 -91. In the 90s the grandchildren would visit with Mom, she took them to the Mini University in the summer of 91-92-93. She went to Ringette games in Virden when it was 30 below. Grandma loved her grandckids. My Mom was in Deloraine Personnel Care Home from Jan. 15, 2013 to October 31, 2014. Dementia patients need somebody to talk to them to stimulate brain activity. I took Mom to Brandon once every two weeks for a massage. In the summer of 2013 I took her to Minnedosa Beach for a barbecue where she visited with friends. She enjoyed going Mothers Day to Harrys Ukrainian Kitchen (she liked Harrys corsages). We went to The Grand Ganyon in 2011 & 2012. I said to my Mom theres a statue of your former son-in-law It says on the statue this guy dropped a penny down a crack, and went looking for it with a pick axe and thats how the Grand Canyon was formed. My Mom and I journeyed onto Lake Havasu, AZ for 2 months in 2011 & 2012. Mom enjoyed going to church. My Mom passed away from complications from dementia. She always said the Lord could heal her, but he decided to take her Home. Im glad - absent from the body -present with the Lord. We are all prisoners of hope - Til we meet again. All six children and their families alllove and miss her dearly.Predeceased by her boyfriend Mel Tucker in 1995.
