SUTHERLAND: Loreen Ruth Sutherland, beloved Mother, Grammie, Mentor and Special Friend, passed away at the Minnedosa Health Centre on Saturday, January 9, 2016. Ruth was a long-term resident of Brandon and most recently of Ditch Lake, MB. She was born February 27, 1927 at Invermay, Saskatchewan. She grew up on a grain and stock farm until the fall of 1944 when she moved to Saskatoon, SK to complete high school. After high school, Ruth enrolled in a Saskatchewan teacher training program. Later, she taught at Leney, SK before locating to Manitoba. Ruth taught in and around the Brandon area from 1948 to 1988 when she retired. Ruth was married to Stewart Sutherland in July 1953 and they raised their family in Brandon. Ruth enjoyed reading, travel, handwork and flower gardening. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and attending their activities. Ruth is survived by her sons, Terrence and Donald; daughter Marilyn, her husband Craig and two special grandsons, Sean and Hudson. She also leaves her sister- in-law, Eileen Turner, and many nieces and nephews. A brief family service will be held at Rosewood Memorial Gardens following cremation.
