HEMINGER: Lillian Jean Heminger (née Henry) passed away peacefully in the morning of February 19, 2016, with her son by her side. Lillian is survived by her son Bill Diehl-Jones and daughter- in-law Debbie Fraser, daughter Bev Collinson and son-in-law Ashley Sinclair, son- and daughter-in-law Tim and Candace Heminger, grandchildren Cayly, Liam, Anna, Nicole, Venus, Alexandra, Ryan and Chad, and great-grandchildren Taylor, Trin and Crosby. Lillian is pre-deceased by her husband, Bill Heminger. Lillian was born October 17, 1934 in Crawford Park, Manitoba, to parents Lance and Annie. She earned a teaching certificate at the Winnipeg Normal School, and taught in a one-room country school before working in the Bank of Montreal. There she met her first husband, with whom she lived in locations as varied as Thompson, Manitoba and Kingston, Jamaica. Upon returning to Canada, Lillian worked for many years at Brandon University. There she met and married Bill Heminger. A kind and caring husband, Bill brought out the best in Lillian, and they enjoyed many happy years together. Lillian spent the last years of her life at the Lions Personal Care Home in Winnipeg. There she received excellent care from her Nurse Practitioner Preetha Krishnan. The family will also not forget the compassion and patience of the outstanding nurses, aides, and therapists during Lillian’s battle with cancer. In her final days, Lillian achieved a measure of peace. Her last words were, ‘I love you’. Interment will be in the spring, with a small memorial to be held in Winnipeg, on Monday, March 7 at 7:00 p.m. at Lions Personal Care Center, 320 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg.
