SPARLING: Troy Arthur passed away peacefully with his family at his side early February 19th, 2016 at Brandon Regional Health Centre. Troy was born May 23rd, 1968 in Minnedosa, MB. Troy is survived by his parents, Mary and Wayne; sister Karen (Brett) Mandryk, brother Brent (Mytai) Sparling; nephews: Adam (Kelli), Michael, Patrick (Brittany), and Sawyer; nieces: Hailie, Laine (Bryan), Krista and Seanna; great nieces and nephews: Sophie and Leah, Addison and Joel; aunts and uncles: Carol and Bill Stadnyk, Terry and Gale Gibson, Sherrill and Murray Carvey, Rick Sparling and many cousins. He was predeceased by grandparents Bert and Madeline Gibson, Art and Marjorie Sparling and his Aunt Barb Sparling. In 1971 Troy moved to Brandon with his family and in 1986 he moved to his own home at Neepawa Drive with Brandon Community Options where he lived for the past 30 years. Many people have worked with Troy over the years. We say thank you to them and to all of Troys wonderful BCO family who have given so generously of their time and hearts over the years. One of Troys favourite workers was Karen Thorpe. Troy was supported in many different jobs and work experiences through Brandon Community Options. Troy attended special needs classes at George Fitton and graduated from Neelin High school in 1989. Throughout his life he touched many lives with his tenacity, courage and huge smile. In his younger years he gave us great pride in learning to do things some thought would be beyond his comprehension. Even though Troy could not talk, he certainly could communicate his needs. He would take your arm and lead you to whatever it was he wanted. Troy could express his happiness with one of his wonderful smiles, and when he did it was one that would encompass his whole face and make you smile back. Troy taught all of us to thank our lucky stars. We have been so fortunate to have had Troy in our lives and to have the insight of what a true miracle and gift it is to have all of our faculties intact. Troy taught us to treat everyone equally with dignity and respect and to help those less fortunate. He taught us not to single out those who might look or act differently. Words cannot express how much Troy will be missed at family gatherings and in every aspect of our lives. We are happy that he no longer has to endure any pain or hardship. God bless you Troy Boy. The sun shone at the graveside committal service, followed by a Celebration of Troys life at First Presbyterian Church February 22nd, with Arlene Robertson officiating. He was lovingly remembered in eulogies by his sister Karen and brother Brent, followed by Brenda Elmes from BCO. Donations in memory of Troy may be made to Brandon Community Options Inc., 136-11th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 4J4, or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, MB, 3-824 18th St., Brandon, MB, R7A 5B7.
