DUNTHORNE: Peacefully on April 3rd, 2016, Jean Marrion Dunthorne passed away in Brandon, MB at the age of 77 years. Born March 4th, 1939 to Alex and Mary Saseniuk in Geraldton, Ontario, she was the eldest of 12 children. Jean grew up in farming communities of Swan Valley and attended school in Swan River, MB. Once graduating from school, she moved to Winnipeg where she met and married Edward Dunthorne from Winnipeg, MB, on September 10, 1960 and resided in Brandon. Attaining her Post-Secondary Education, she worked and talked fondly of her employment at Manitoba Medical, Brandon General Hospital, and retiring from Brandon City Hall in 1997. Jean enjoyed the outdoors and gardening as noted by all those who attended the many events hosted in her beautifully manicured yard. Mom enjoyed life to the fullest caring for family and friends with an open door and helping hand. Jean was predeceased by her husband Ed in 1969, brothers Ernie and Michael, and sister Gladys. She leaves to mourn her children Allen Dunthorne (Sheila), Donna Wiebe (Jerry), grandkids Jeff, Kim, (and their mother Nancy), Trista (Travis), Kari (Babe), Jenna and great grandchild Emily as well as her siblings Vickie, Ronnie, Alvin, Gerry, Bill, Leona, Dianne, and Karen and their extended families, and Don and Helen Dunthorne and family of Winnipeg. The family wishes to pass along thanks to the Dr. Goosen and Dr. L. Minders, and the nurses and aids of the palliative care unit for their compassion and care. A Memorial Reception will be held at the George Brockie Fellowship Centre, (Brockie Donovan Funeral Home), 332-8th Street, on Saturday, April 9, 2016 (today) at 2:00 p.m. Donations in memory of Jean may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
