BOILEAU: On Monday, April 4, 2016, Lorraine Shirley Boileau's journey with cancer ended with her passing at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. She was born March 28, 1940 in Winnipeg, MB to parents Albert and Ila Springer. After a few years as a child in Fort Francis, ON, the Springer family returned to Winnipeg where Lorraine grew up and attended school at Cecil Rhodes, Mulvey, and Tec Voc High. She began a career working for the Manitoba Telephone System and married William Lord on April 4, 1959. Shortly after, they moved to Frankford, ON and her sons Billy and Garth Lord were born in Trenton, ON. After six years, the family moved to Edmonton, AB where Lorraine was employed with the Alberta Government Telephone. Seven years later, they returned to Manitoba where Lorraine spent a short time at CFS Gypsumville. Lorraine and her children moved to Winnipeg in 1974 and she worked for Pharmaceutical Consultants Inc and Cubex Ltd. In January 1980, Lorraine married Gil Boileau and subsequently moved to Thompson, MB. While in Thompson, she began a new career with Driver and Vehicle Licensing, transferring in 1984 to the Brandon, MB office where she retired in 1996. Predeceased by her parents, Lorraine is survived by her two sisters, Dyanne (Willy) Keller and Valerie Fenton; husband of thirty six years Gil Boileau; children Billy (Gay) & Garth (Christine) Lord; step children Jaret (Niamh) Boileau & Gian (Derrick) Harrison; and grandchildren Blake Lord, Nicole Lord, Parker Harrison, Jack Boileau, Carys Harrison, Holly Boileau, and Beau Harrison. There was also a special place in Lorraine's heart for Luke and Dani Kingdon who she considered grandchildren. The family would like to thank the many special friends and the staff at the Palliative Care Unit for their care and support during her difficult journey. The Ceremony to Celebrate Lorraine's Life will take place at Memories Chapel, 330 18th Street North, Brandon, on Friday, April 8, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Major Rhonda Smith of the Salvation Army officiating. A reception will follow at Memories Chapel. Interment will be at the Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, Winnipeg, Manitoba, at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined.
