SOLON: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dwight Michael Solon on April 13, 2016, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Dwight was born in Brandon, Manitoba on July 27, 1950, and moved to Oak Bluff for his career in 1993. Remaining to cherish Dwight's memory are his wife, Gisèle, daughter, Samantha, brother Paul Jr. and his wife, Cyndi. Also left to mourn are brothers-in-law and sisters- in-law Chuck Gentes (Louise), Colette Gentes (Graeme), Bobbi Sturby, Linda Noto (Brian) and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Dwight was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Gladys. Dwight spent his entire career of 42 years working for the Department of Highways - Motor Carrier Enforcement, retiring in 2009. Dwight enjoyed playing golf and watching sports, especially his Toronto Maple Leafs. Dwight would brighten everyones day with his caring nature, wonderful smile, great sense of humour and positive approach to life. This is why he had so many long-lasting friendships. Everyone who knew him felt blessed to be part of his life. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Salem, and most recently the wonderful health care providers on 4 North at the Victoria Hospital. A prayer vigil will be held on Friday, April 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Thomson in the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday April 16 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gianna Beretta Molla Roman Catholic Church, (15 Columbia Drive) with Rev. Fr. Darrin J. G. Gurr presiding. A private interment will follow at a later date in Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dwights memory to St. Giannas Church Building Fund.
