SORENSEN: Harvey George Sorensen entered into rest at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the age of 72. Harvey was born on June 12, 1943 at Carnduff, SK, son of Ole (Peter) and Esther Sorensen. He grew up on the family farm at Alida, SK. In 1963, Harvey married Darlene Davies of Tilston, MB. They lived in Birtle, MB where Harvey worked as a farm hand until 1965, when they moved to Neepawa, MB. In 1969, Harvey and Darlene started their family, adopting their son Brian and in 1974, their daughter Linda. Harvey worked for 3 years with Bill Tinkler, then 15 years as Lumber Manager with Neepwa-Gladstone Co-op before moving to Shoal Lake, MB in 1984 to realize his dream of owning his own business. Harvey and Darlene operated Sorensen Building Supply Ltd. together until Darlene’s death in 1988. Harvey continued to run the business until 1997. After a brief employment with Phair’s Lumber in Pierson, MB in 1998, Harvey moved to Goodlands, MB with his long time partner Louise Patrick, and later moved to Deloraine where he lived out the remainder of his life. Harvey worked in Deloraine for both Town & County Building Supply and Boundary Co-op before retiring in 2013. The pride and joy of Harvey’s life was his family and he particularly loved spending time with his five grandchildren. He enjoyed watching baseball and hockey games, fishing and hunting. Harvey was a lover of the outdoors and had a passion for gardening. He spent countless hours every summer tending to his garden and maintaining his yard. Harvey was a kind, considerate and gentle man and was always ready to put the needs of others ahead of his own. Harvey was predeceased by his wife Darlene; father Ole (Peter), mother Esther; brothers Robert and Ronald. Mourning his passing are his partner Louise Patrick; son Brian Sorensen (Nancy); daughter Linda Houle (Marc); grandchildren Noelle Sorensen, Jordan Sorensen, Eric Sorensen, Claire Houle and Ethan Houle; brother Lloyd Sorensen (Irene); sisters Ella Thomson, Kathleen Arthur (Alan) and Diane Lemieux (Ernest). Harvey was loved by many and will be sadly missed. Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Deloraine United Church, Deloraine, Manitoba at 10:00 a.m. There will be a public interment at the Riverside Cemetery, Neepawa, MB on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.Donations in memory of Harvey may be made to a charity of one's choice.Messages of condolences may be made online at www.wheatlandfs.comSmith Funeral Home 204-747-2088
