LISKE: Esther Evelyn (Kerbs)Esther was born on June 24, 1932 at Last Mountain SK to Godfrey and Ella Kerbs. She attended the Havelock school along with her sisters, Flora and Marie. Growing up, Esther loved gardening, drawing, spirituality but maybe most of all music - specifically playing the piano. Esther’s spiritual interests led her to baptism in the Seventh-day Adventist church in 1943. Her love of the Lord and music presented a wonderful opportunity for her to tour the Man - Sask conference playing piano for a series of evangelistic crusades. It was one such tour that led her to Manitoba where she met her husband to be. On Oct. 14, 1951 Esther married Roland Allison Liske and moved to Manitoba where they farmed together near Inglis. Esther and Roland had three children; Donna Marlene (‘52), Jerry Dean (‘57) and Thomas Roland (‘60). The couple lived and farmed there until Roland’s passing in 1977. After ‘77, Esther moved from the Inglis area, calling many places home as she ambitiously hoped to assist in some church “planting” projects. Upon her son Jerry’s urging, she happily returned to the Brandon MB area and immediately became an active and musical member of the Brandon SDA church. She was happy to be near some family again and to have close support of her son Jerry in her declining years. Early in 2016, Esther began to develop some health issues which eventually led to her passing on May 14, 2016. Esther died peacefully in Brandon hospital in the presence of her sons and a few close friends. Esther awaits the joyous reunion with her Savior and loved ones. She is predeceased by her parents - Godfrey (;77) and Ella Kerbs (’93), her sister Flora Clark (’76), her husband Roland (’77), and her daughter Donna (’84). Left to mourn are : her sister Marie McCalla of Meridian, ID, her son Jerry Liske of Brandon MB, her son Thomas Liske of Saskatoon SK, and (estranged) grandson Jason Liske of Sidney BC, along with her beloved Brandon SDA church community. The Funeral Service will be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 3319 Park Avenue, Brandon on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 1:00 pm. Pastor Rick Harwood will officiate. A reception will follow. Interment will be in the Freefield South Cemetery, Inglis, Manitoba . In lieu of flowers please donate to ADRA Canada at www.adra.ca Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com
