ZINCK: Irene Doris Zinck (ne: Harris) July 31, 1925 – May 20, 2016. Irene was born on the family farm in the Glen Souris District, southeast of Brandon, Manitoba. She attended school at Blythe School and later on attended Brandon College. After Irene finished her education, she found work at the John Deere dealership in Brandon. During this time, Irene boarded in Brandon with Meredith and Sylvia Houston. Sylvia just happened to be a young soldier’s aunt who was based in Rivers, MB. That soldier was Charles Zinck. Irene and Charles were married in 1954. Thus began Irene’s adventures with Charles. They first lived at CFB Rivers Air Force Base, MB and then all over Canada. Irene even travelled by troop transport ship to Germany to meet Charles after he was posted over there. In 1966, they came back to Canada and were posted in Ottawa, ON. Irene began her position with Revenue Canada at this time and continued there for 22 years until her retirement. After retirement, Irene and Charles travelled far and wide visiting with family and friends. Irene passed peacefully in her final home at the Perley and Rideau Veteran’s Health Centre in Ottawa. Irene was predeceased by her parents, Cyril and Lillian Harris; her brother, Kenneth Harris; and Meredith Houston. Irene is survived by her beloved husband, Charles Stuart Zinck; her sister-in-law, Doreen Harris; her nieces, Susan Harris and Shannon Mayo (Tim); and great-nephews, Kyle Harris, Tyler Mayo and Parker Mayo. Irene is also survived by Charles’ Aunt, Sylvia Houston; and Charles’ cousins, John and Grant Houston and their families. A Memorial Service was held for Irene in the Lupton Hall of the Perley Rideau Veteran’s Health Centre on June 1, 2016. Donations in memory of Irene may be made to Charity of Choice. Irene will always be fondly remembered in the hearts of all who loved her
