THOMSON: Evelyn Muriel (née Patterson), passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the age of 95 years. She was born July 6, 1921 in Brandon. In 1933, the Patterson family moved to Weyburn, SK. Evelyn completed all her schooling and was employed at a jewelry store. In 1937, Dons cousin, Margaret Milliken, introduced him to Evelyn. Romance followed. The war intervened and Don was overseas for approximately five years. But they kept in touch. On Dons return, they married in Weyburn, SK on July 24, 1946 and they were blessed with almost 70 years of marriage. Evelyn was very active in the life of First Presbyterian Church. She was a choir member for many years and active in the ladies aid, including time spent as president. But her true happiness was at home caring for her family. Evelyn leaves to mourn her husband Don and two daughters. Eldest daughter Susan, her son Chad (Marlowe) Tucker, Carol (Gary) Hoffman and their children Trevor (Angie) and their new daughter and great-grandchild Ava Monica, Brett (Jess) and new great-grandchild Ethan James. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents Ada and John Patterson, brother Ted, sisters Hazel and Lorraine plus several nieces, nephews and their children. The Funeral will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 339-12th Street, on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with reception to follow. The family would like to thank the staff at Valleyview Care Centre for the wonderful T.L.C. given to Evelyn and family. Also, a special thanks to minister, Rev. Dr. Dong-Ha Kim and the church family for their kindness.
